They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendour. - Isaiah 62:3
Like arrows in the hand of a warrior are the children of one's youth. - Psalm 127:4
Joining Us
Before joining Oaks and Arrows, here are a few points to consider:
• Does this fit into my schedule?
We welcome families who will joyfully make the time for this community and who will make it a priority to attend each session. We also highly encourage mothers to attend a planning meeting before the start of each term. These meetings will be scheduled to include as many people as possible.
• Am I willing to serve other families?
The community is planned so that each family will contribute practically to the smooth running of the group without the commitment becoming a burden upon any individual. Parents serve in many different ways from teaching classes, to preparing food, to cleaning up. We value each parent’s contribution and we support one another in whatever capacity we are able to. If you have an area you would love to serve in, or a subject you are keen to teach, we would love to help facilitate this!
• Am I willing to build relationships with all the children?
Relationships are key to a living education. Since this co-op truly is for the children’s sake, we ask that you consider and invest in all the children participating. Socials are regularly organised in order to accommodate deepening relationships between families. We encourage families to attend when possible in order to strengthen our community and facilitate meaningful relationships.
• Am I willing to support my child to fully participate in line with the group expectations?
In order for Oaks and Arrows to be a blessing to each child and adult, it’s important that the children engage respectfully and participate as fully as possible in each part of our time together. We have some ‘Group Expectations’ that we ask all children to observe and for all adults to encourage and support their child in.
WHAT NEXT?
We are delighted that you are considering joining our community. We hope this information will help you to decide if O&A is the right fit for your family and should you wish to be added to our waiting list, please get in touch. We will let you know once a space becomes available and will ask that you follow our brief welcome process from that point:
-
Having thoroughly read through the information pack, please contact a committee member to arrange a time to meet in-person to discuss the purpose of O&A and ask any questions. All being well, we will arrange a date for you and your child/ren to visit an Oaks and Arrows session.
-
We will ask for a reference from your church leader, as well as your signed agreement with our Statement of Belief and Parent’s Commitment.
-
You will then pay your term fees and complete a Family Form, informing us of medical and dietary needs.
